Newstalk 33AD is a series of 10 three-minute ‘news bulletins’ on Good Friday 2017 on Newstalk ZB, as if we were a 1st Century radio station broadcasting live at the time of Jesus’ crucifixion.

33AD News Headlines’depicts how a Newstalk station might have covered the developing story of the arrest, trial and crucifixion of Jesus (and the aftermath) in real time, had a radio station existed in Jerusalem in the 1st Century.

Jesus was 33 at the time, so we gave our fictitious Judean radio station the call sign 33AD.

We transported listeners back through time and space to that first ‘Good Friday’ - while sounding as authentically ‘Newstalk ZB’ as possible. The imaging sounded middle-eastern, the commercials promoted 1st century businesses, and ‘in other news’ stories gave us the opportunity to have fun with topical issues, such as match fixing in sport, paid parental leave, the winemakers awards and the high cost of housing.
